Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Saturday launched a strong attack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing him of attempting to create unrest and disturb social harmony in the state.

Sinha likened Yadav to “Dhritarashtra, blinded by affection for his sons,” and alleged that the RJD chief, who he claimed had forced generations of Biharis to migrate during his rule, was now once again trying to divide society.

“Those who forced Biharis to migrate and ruined Bihar are now at their final stage. Like Dhritarashtra, blinded by affection for his sons, they are once again trying to create unrest in Bihar and disrupt social harmony to destroy the state. But now, Biharis will not tolerate it,” Sinha told reporters.

The Deputy CM said that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar, Bihar was moving towards “peace, prosperity and development.” He added that people of Bihar would not be swayed by divisive politics.

The remarks came after Lalu Yadav, in a post on X, accused Prime Minister Modi of discriminating against Bihar while shifting factories to Gujarat.

“Hey Modi ji, do you want victory from Bihar and give the factory in Gujarat? This Gujarati formula won’t work in Bihar!” Yadav posted on September 5.

His son and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also weighed in, saying Bihar’s real issues were poverty, unemployment, crime, migration, and weak health and education systems, adding that “the people of Bihar are not made for labour work.”

The row was further stoked by a controversial now-deleted post from the Kerala Congress unit, which likened Bihar to bidis in the context of GST reforms. The post drew sharp criticism across party lines in Bihar.

BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal called it an “insult to Biharis,” while Union Minister Nityanand Rai said that people would give a fitting reply to those who hurt their self-respect. JD(U) leaders Sanjay Jha and Neeraj Kumar demanded an explanation from Tejashwi Yadav.

The heated exchanges come ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, expected later this year. The ruling NDA (BJP, JD(U), LJP) currently holds 131 of 243 seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc (RJD, Congress, Left parties) controls 111, with the RJD leading at 77 seats.
